  1. Introductory Paragraph: This is the first paragraph in your cover letter, and it should state the reason why you write this letter and should contain the name of your potential employer and the position you are applying for. It’s OK also to state where did you find the job ad.
  2. Middle Paragraph: In this paragraph, you need to show your expertise and skills that make you stand out of the crowd. State that you understand the job requirements as per the job ad, and that you consider yourself as a strong candidate based on your abilities fulfilling the job requirements.
  3. Closing Paragraph: The closing paragraph must be as attractive as the introductory paragraph, so that the recruiter can receive a positive impression about you. The closing paragraph should be brief, and should contain thanks to the recruiter/ employer, and a kind request for follow-up. Tell them confidently that you are ready for interview.

Things to Avoid When Writing Your Cover Letter

  • Avoid using funky fonts, and just use simple fonts.
  • Your cover letter should not contain information that contradicts with your resume.
  • Don’t elaborate on your personal data and make your cover letter restricted to your expertise and skills.
  • Normally a cover letter contains up to four paragraphs. Don’t write more than four paragraphs, as this can turn recruiters away.
